I remember going into sales because I said, "I wanted to learn" but the truth was, I wanted an opportunity to control my future.
To make money based on my effort and skills and not just hours on the job.
To make more than anyone in my family had ever made.
I remember working my tail off the first month.
The highest activity across the scoreboard.
2X the second closest person.
Then commissions hit the beginning of the next month.
I heard the buzz of energy from my teammates as they logged into their bank accounts.
I started getting excited.
I logged in immediately and waited anxiously as my account loaded.
"Checking Balance: $794."
Barely enough to cover my living expenses even though I was living cheap AF.
That was just my base salary after 2 weeks.
I hadn't closed a SINGLE deal that month.
Thus ZERO commissions on top.
Unfortunately this kept happening until I figured it out what to avoid.
Once I figured out what to avoid...
Then I started getting a teaser of 3-figure commission checks.
That grew to 4-figures and then 5-figures/month in commissions and bonuses alone.
And then once I realized the truly rich acquire assets and equity, I started to look for comp plans that had REAL equity.
And eventually it grew to 6-figure commission and stocks getting deposited into multiple accounts.
It completely changed my life.
I went from broke..to retiring at 35.
I went from zero skills...to highly skilled.
I went from insecure...to highly confident.
Fortunately, once you KNOW what to avoid, it becomes much easier to change your trajectory.
